Free Coffee Vending Machines
This is the most common type of coffee vending machine in office environments today. As the name implies, all products from this machine are free for the employees of the company and the company fits the bill. The rise in the awareness of the link between staff happiness and productivity has precipated the popularity of these machines in most large companies.

Coin Operated Coffee Vending Machines
These archaic coffee vending machines are mostly seen in older petrol station, cafés or restaurants with a patchy old sticker “R5 for all drinks” slackly taped onto the front. Coin-operated vending machines are primarily used for two reasons:
- To tender money for goods (in the above example)
- To control company spend (To prevent staff abuse)
Coin / Token Vending machines can work well in both of the above environments but are not without their challenges. Coin containers can fill quickly, need maintenance and coin rejection and jamming are always additional problems. Also, many coffee machines struggle with the old or new R5 coin. Lastly, coin/token vending machines can cause employee animosity to wards the company because a paid vending machine can be interpreted as a means for the company to make money off it’s employees.

Floor-Standing Vending Machine
Floor standing vending machines usually consist of exactly the same components as their table-top counterparts except they have a base which is intended to prevent the moving or theft of the machine. Floor standing vending machines are mostly of the coin-operated variety and can be found in many public spaces such as Airports, Train Stations, Banks and Busy Lobbies. They are usually the most expensive of all coffee vending machines as they contain the most material and often have anti-theft mechanisms built in. There are also models for use inside offices without the coin part – free coffee, which always tend to taste better ;-).

Table-Top Coffee Vending Machine
Most table-top coffee vending machines are are the free vending variety and typically sit reside in the company kitchen. They can be water plumbed in, or can be fitted with a pump and drum kit or simply attached to a water cooler bottle. These coffee machines are often the best priced machines and most suited to most companies due to their small size and ease of installation and use.
